BIT Parts – Closing Statement

To the Blue Goggles Films community here in Austin, TX:

Someone asked me recently, “What happens if BIT Parts fails?” Of course, what they meant to ask was, “What if we don’t meet our Kickstarter goal?” To me, there’s a big difference there. If we don’t make our Kickstarter goal, we move on to the next project. If BIT Parts fails, well… it can’t fail… We made 6 episodes that I am extremely proud of and they were released. BIT Parts would have failed if we never finished them. BIT Parts would have failed if that’s all we ever did. Well, guess what? Look at all the work BIT Parts has inspired in only a year’s time. We as a group, have made 13 shorts in 13 months now on top of a 6 episode web series and that’s all because of BIT Parts. We made over 90 minutes of content that ranges from comedy to action to straight up horror.

If it wasn’t for the cast and crew of BIT Parts, I would have never set out to make a short film every single month of 2012. Because of BIT Parts, I’ve met what I now consider some of my closest friends and they have become family to me. And I’m not talking simply about BIT Parts either. I’m talking about BIT Parts and since BIT Parts. We’ve met and been lucky enough to work with so many awesome people this year. All of them extremely talented and overly generous with their time and energy. To me, we can only fail right now by not making any more films. We’ve pulled together such an amazing group of filmmakers here in Austin, TX that it would be a crime to stop now.

Every single day, each and every person I’ve worked with this past year inspires me to be a better and more productive filmmaker. While I don’t know if there’s enough hours in the day to be more productive, I know I can get better and I want to do that with all of you at my side. As a group and as individuals I think we’ve all grown so much over this past crazy year and nothing excites me more than the idea of what we work on next together as a group.
Only a fraction of the Blue Goggles Films team
I can’t thank everyone enough who’s ever participated in a Blue Goggles shoot over the past year. This has been the most exciting and most creatively satisfying years of my life. While what we did in 2012 was incredible, I can’t wait for 2013 to begin. I’m not wasting anytime either. Our first shoot is Jan 5th, bitches! 2012 was amazing, but 2013 is going to be better. BIT Parts has already succeeded on so many levels for me, the main one being, it introduced me to all of you.

I hope everyone has a happy and safe holidays. I can’t wait to get back to work with you all in the new year.

Best,
Ben Moody
